Wanda AchesonWanda Jean Acheson, 74, of Rushville, died at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 28, 2006, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born Sept. 19, 1932, at the Walker homestead in Buena Vista Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of Howard Burton and Irma Nell Corbridge Walker. She married Rollin Gene Acheson on March 4, 1951, in Rushville. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Larry (and June) of Plano, Texas, and Alan (and Holly) of rural Rushville; one daughter, Linda (and Terry) Cockerill of Jacksonville; one sister, Maurine (and Herschel) Reeves of Rushville; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Marlene Wiley; one grandson, Richard Michael Wiley; and one sister, Virginia Smith Bryant.

She attended the Young rural grade school and graduated from Rushville High School in 1950. After graduating from high school, she worked as a legal secretary for the Garrison and Crandall Law Office in Rushville until her marriage. She and her husband farmed all their married life in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County with the exception of the years 1958-1961 spent on a dairy farm near Rockford.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville; the Goodwill Sunday School class; the Wesley Ann Circle of the church; United Methodist Women, helping with many church dinners; Be-kik-a-ninee Chapter, NSDAR where she served as chaplain for many years; Schuyler Home Extension; and Bainbridge Area Women's Club.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at her church with reverends Mary and Paul Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.
