William C. Amsler, 79, of Cuba died Oct. 12, 2006, at his home.

He was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Cuba, a son of Caddie W. and Sarah Agnes Bishop Amsler. He married Donna Rock on Feb. 13, 1949, in Cuba. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, William C. (and Cheryl) of Rossville, Ind.; three daughters, Diana (and David) Darr, Linda (and Michael) Mitchell and Kathleen McLouth, all of Cuba; three brothers, James R. (and Gladys) of Montgomery, Ala., Rev. V. Lee (and Lavon) of Quincy and Ed (and Georgette) of Florida; one sister, Margaret (and James) Williamson of Sun City, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He was a member of Cuba United Methodist Church, Cuba Masonic Lodge #534 AF & AM, United Mine Workers of America and American Legion Russell Smith Post 533.

He was a coal miner for Truax Traer/Consolidated Coal Co. for many years before retiring.

Services were held Monday at his church with Rev. Joe Tomich officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery with military rites accorded by his American Legion Post. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba was in charge of arrangements.
