ROBENA (SHIRLEY) AKRIDGE

Robena Akridge

Robena Akridge, 92, of Havana, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Snyder Village in Metamora.

She was born Oct. 13, 1905, in Bath, a daughter of James and Belle Lippert Shirley. She married Archie E. Akridge on Oct. 25, 1925, in Havana. He died Aug. 14, 1969. She was also preceded in death by one son, Dale; one daughter, Beatrice; three sisters; and one brother.

Surviving are two sisters, Bertha Lacy of Hopedale and Ferne Jones of Metamora; two brothers, Merritt Shirley of Havana and Jim Shirley of Astoria; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was a cook at Havana High School and a caterer in the Havana area. She was a member of Central Christian Church.

Services were held this morning at Hurley Funeral Home with Rev. L. Arvil Bass officiating. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Snyder Village.
