Clifton “Cliff” Atchison, 70, of Good Hope, died Friday, July 26, 1985, in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo., where he had been a patient for several months.
He was born Oct. 15, 1914, in Roseville, a son of Elzie and Maude (Clayton) Atchison. He married Margaret Zimmerman on Oct. 11, 1974, in Woodland. She survives.
Also surviving are four stepchildren, Mrs. Charles (Beverly) Sternbergh of Pinckey, Mich., Lt. Col. Michael Zimmerman of Scott Air Force Base, Jack Zimmerman of Walnut Grove and Mrs. Terry (Debbie) Olson of Good Hope; three stepgrandchildren; and his mother, of Bushnell.
His father preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Roseville High School. He had lived in Blandinsville and Good Hope most of his life. He was employed by the Iowa Ordinance Plant several years and was a school bus driver for 35 years. For the past few years he had been employed in Arkansas the past few summers.
He was a member of the Blandinsville Masonic Lodge, Good Hope Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and the Rolling River Ramblers Camping Club.
Cremation rites were accorded and memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon at Clugston Chapel in Macomb with Virgil Kelly officiating.
