J. M. Argo, Sr.

J. M. Argo was born in Ohio September 22, 1822 and died at his home in Astoria May 4, 1900, aged 77 years, 7 months and 14 days.

Mr. Argo came to Illinois with his parents in 1835 and first lived near Vermont. He was married to Elizabeth Patterson with whom he lived for more than 51 years and who still survives him. Besides the wife the following sons and daughters survive the father: Mrs. Belle Tucker, Dubuque, Iowa, Mrs. Adda Hall, Chicago, Frank, Astoria, Joseph M., Beardstown, and William, Astoria. The deceased was a member of the Astoria Christian church, a man of quiet nature and respected by his friends and neighbors.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Tyler, and the remains laid to rest in the Vermont cemetery.
