She was born March 12, 1921, in Camden Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of Robert R. and Clara Black Yates. She married Bernard Ward on Dec. 3, 1946, in Rushville. He survives.
Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, Charles, Warren, Howard, Martin and Richard Yates; and four sisters, Grace Strong, Ruth Walker, Eva Hickman and Hazel Kirkham.
She was a dietary aide at Culbertson Memorial Hospital for many years before retiring.
Services were held Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Rose Ross officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
