James L. Walker, 68, of Galesburg died at 6:52 a.m. April 29, 2008, at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg.

He was born March 9, 1940, in Flagstaff, Ariz., a son of Albert and Clara Goldsmith Walker.

Surviving are three brothers, Brian Walker of Bryant, Gerald (and Janet) Walker of Marietta and David (and Gladys) Walker of Cuba; and a special friend, Don Harlan of Galesburg.

He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

He retired after 30 years from Maytag Corporation in Galesburg.

He was of Catholic faith.

Cremation has been accorded. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Marietta Cemetery with Father Tom Holloway officiating. There will be no visitation. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or any charity of the donor’s choice.
