Howard WilsonHoward E. Wilson, 82, of Smithfield died at 12:45 a.m. May 28, 2007, at Graham Hospital extended care in Canton.

He was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Strawberry Point, Iowa, a son of Glen and Goldie Griffin Wilson. He married Lelea M. Ford on Feb. 28, 1947, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Martha I. Fidler of Lewistown; three sons, Howard E. and Elmer G., both of Smithfield and Harold L. of Bushnell; three sisters, Fern Landwehr of Dunlap, Elsie Garbin of Girard and Eva Fisher of Maryland; one brother, Chuck of Fairview; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Morris and Alfred; one sister, Dorothy Wilson; and one great-granddaughter, Kayla Wilson.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a rifleman and automotive mechanic.

He was a farmer and also worked for FS in Cuba. He retired as a night watchman at Vaughan and Bushnell Manufacturing Co.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Amy Wharton officiating. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery with military services conducted by Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533.
