Eldon W. Walters, 78, of Adair, died at 7:52 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born May 6, 1920, in Bernadotte, a son of Leonard and Mary Estella Hensley Walters. He married Dorothy McSperritt on May 31, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Janet Lehr of Algonquin, Nancy Roan of Kingman, Ariz., and Vickie Stoneking of Elsberry, Mo.; one brother, Glade of Adair; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He retired in 1991 as a farmer. He was a member of Adair Volunteer Fire Department. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Services were held Saturday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Rev. Charles Dorsey officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb, where full military rites were accorded by the Macomb American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorials may be made to Adair Volunteer Fire Department.
