Anthony VignaAnthony John “Teno” Vigna, 94, of Ellisville died at 8:55 p.m. Feb. 4, 2008, at Graham Hospital Extended Care Unit in Canton.

He was born June 24, 1913, in Fiatt, the son of Theodoro and Maria Forneris Vigna. He married Maxine Burgard on June 24, 1957, in Nashua, Iowa. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, John (and Crystal) Vigna; two sisters, Rose Centers and Dorothy Powell, both of Canton; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Flynn and Augusta Ehresman McCann.

He joined Fiatt Independent Christian Church when he was young.

He attended Fiatt Grade School. In 1924, his family moved to Fiatt in the midway area. He attended the Roberts School where he was later a director.

He farmed and worked at Midway Garage.

He was drafted into the Army during World War II. He attended David Rankin School in St. Louis and graduated. He was stationed in Puerto Rico.

He was one of the originators of the Spoon River Levee Project number one. He sold and serviced chain saws.

He was a member of Ellisville Odd Fellows, AARP and Fulton County Farm Bureau.

Services were held Friday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Burial was in Fiatt Cemetery.
