Betty TolandBetty J. Toland, 92, of Industry died at 2:40 p.m. Dec. 3, 2016, at the Wesley Village Nursing Home in Macomb.

She was born March 6, 1924, in Lamoine Township, McDonough County, a daughter of Willis and Fern Butcher Roberts. She married Max Nardin in 1942. In 1944, he was killed during World War II, at the Battle of the Bulge in Europe. She later married Robert William Toland in McDonough County on June 1, 1946. He preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1993.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Roberts; and two sisters, Joanne Terrill and Patricia Thompson.

Surviving are four sons, Errol Howard Toland of Macomb, Ernest Wayne (and Susan) Toland of Littleton, Robert Edward (and Brenda) Toland and Earl Ross Toland, both of Industry; two brothers, Bill (and Vivian) Roberts of Colchester and Steve Roberts of Dallas City; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Industry United Methodist Church.

She was a housewife and helped Robert manage and work the farm.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Chockley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to her church or Schuyler Humane Society.
