He was born May 12, 1929, in Kerton Township, Fulton County, a son of Clayton and Eva Trone Tippey. He married Cora Darlene Young on April 2, 1949, in Astoria. She preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 1986.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Tippey; two grandchildren, Darin King and Alaina Tippey; one sister, Maxine Danner; and one brother; Willard Dean Tippey.
Surviving are one son, Kendall (and Teri) Tippey of Beardstown; two daughters, Linda (and Rick) King of Huntsville and Lorrie (and Jon) Thurman of Rushville; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was a life-long farmer.
He was a member of Schuyler County Farm Bureau and Illinois Sheriff’s Association.
Services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dixie Croxton officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
