Vera TompkinsVera Valentine Tompkins, 92, of Lewistown, died at 6:10 a.m. July 10, 2009, at Havana Healthcare Center.

She was born Feb. 14, 1917, in Buckeye, Fulton County, a daughter of Lee and Mae Baughman Schoonover. She married Harold Ransom Tompkins on Dec. 22, 1932, in Lewistown. He died Nov. 27, 2002.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Clark Schoonover; one sister, Helen (Schoonover) Lockwood and one stepsister, Valeria Sheets.

Surviving are one son, Kenneth (and Janet) Tompkins of Peoria; one daughter, Verlena (and Gary) Pratt of Lewistown; one brother, Hobart (and Dorothy) Tompkins of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Peggy Seward of Lewistown; one stepsister, Maxine Hartstirn of Fairview; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and dear friend Bonnie Lefler.

She was a homemaker and also worked at Pratt Furniture for many years.

She was a member of Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown.

Services were held Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Ray Greenfield officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
