Wayne L. Stambaugh, 78, of Bader died at 4:40 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009, at home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Bader, the son of Lloyd and Ada Leek Stambaugh. He first married Irene Anderson on Dec. 7, 1950, in Rock Island. He later married Joyce Bath on Nov. 10, 1987, in Mount Home, Ark. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Terry (and Orma) Stambaugh of Greenville, Fla; two daughters, Susan (and Robert) Cameron and Konny Hendee, both of Astoria; four step-children; two sisters, Adra Burnett of Vermont and Edna Derry of Astoria; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

He was an Army veteran serving from 1951 to 1953, attaining the rank of Corporal.

He worked at International Harvester in Canton, retiring in 1985. He then owned his own repair shop in Bader.

He was a member of Bader Christian Church, Astoria American Legion Post #25 and UAW Local 974.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Matt Haberman and Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was in Bader Cemetery with military rites provided by Astoria American Legion.

Memorials may be made to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or his church.
