She was born May 4, 1947, in Norfolk, Va., a daughter of Charles and Mary Cartwright Shannon.
Surviving are one sister, Mary (and Jim) Petkus of Gurnee; three stepsisters, Ellie (and Lou) of Park Ridge, and Mary Lou Francis and Jean-Marie Travaine both of California; two nieces and one grandnephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a teacher at Lewistown Community High School for 39 years. She also taught freshman composition at the prison in Canton.
She was a member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church, member and past president of Alpha Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, past president and member of Fulton County Humane Society and directed and acted in plays at Fulton County Playhouse.
Services were held Saturday at Lewistown Community High School Auditorium with Rev. Danie DeBeer officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.
