Wilmer SaurbaughWilmer I. Saurbaugh, 74, of Table Grove died at 9:25 p.m. Oct. 9, 2007, at his home.

He was born July 7, 1933, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, the son of Maurice L. and Eura Mae Johnson Saurbaugh. He married Lorena C. “Kitty” Nazelrod on May 15, 1955, in Westminster, Md. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Vicki (and Paul) Remy and Merri (and Randy) Tingley, both of Table Grove, Joy (and Joe) Patch of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Geni (and Dan) Jacobs of Metamora; one nephew, Colton Brown of Baltimore, Md., who was raised in their home; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Astoria High School in 1952 and attended Western Illinois University in Macomb.

He was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 1996, a plumber and electrician for Swearingen Electric in Industry until 1990, and owned and operated Saurbaugh Enterprises until retiring due to ill health in 2002. He was a volunteer fireman for Table Grove Fire Department and an adult leader with the Elderado Earnest Workers 4-H Club.

He was a member and elder of West Prairie Presbyterian Church in rural Adair.

Services were held Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Ron Peters officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
