Norman SmithNorman F. Smith, 74, of St. David died at 10:12 a.m. May 26, 2007, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Cuba, a son of John O. and Rita M. Jones Smith. He married Janet M. Betson on Feb. 26, 1954, in St. David. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Martin of St. David and Tracey of Peoria Heights; two daughters, Debra Atkinson of Overland Park, Kan., and Angela Keefauver of St. David; one brother, William of Mauldin, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Smith.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953.

He was a member of St. David Methodist Church and Canton Moose Lodge.

He had worked at Caterpillar, and then International Harvester Canton Plant until it closed. He later worked at Largent’s Gas Station in Canton.

Cremation will be accorded. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in High Bridge Cemetery at Dunfermline with Rev. David Burnham officiating. Military services will be conducted by Canton VFW Post 1984. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown.
