Geraldine Smith

Geraldine M. Smith, 83, mayor of Ipava, died at 2:42 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born April 21, 1917, in Bernadotte, the daughter of William L. and Goldie Pickel Smith.

Surviving are two half brothers, Kenneth Smith and Gene Smith, both of Canton; and two half sisters, Lea (and Forrest) Nolan and Bernadean Williams, both of Canton.

She was preceded in death by one half sister and one half brother.

For the past 50 years she served in an administrative capacity for the village of Ipava, first as village clerk and the past 16 as mayor. She also had worked as a clerk at various businesses in Ipava.

Services were held today at 2 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Rev. Kevin Kessler officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Ipava Central Park Fund in care of Ipava State Bank.
