Richard "Dick" SmithRichard A. "Dick" Smith, 53, of Salem, Ark., formerly of Astoria, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in Oxford, Ark.

He was born March 21, 1947, in Watseka, a son of Glenn and Clara B. Baker Smith. He married Cathy Link on May 20, 2000, in Browning. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Richard Smith of Clewistown, Fla., and Christopher "Gator" Smith of Astoria; one daughter, Kris Autry of Clewistown, Fla.; one stepson, Michael Grimm of Fort Benning, Ga.; one step-daughter, Cherri Clemens of Browning; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Susan Payton of Browning; and one brother, Michael Smith of East Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

He was a farmer and worked for Spoon River Blacktop in Lewistown.

He was a member of the Summum Volunteer Fire Dept.

Graveside services were held today at Bader Cemetery in Browning with Rev. Clifford Parry officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
