Richard Sours

Richard A. Sours, 71, of Rushville, formerly of the Brooklyn area, died at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at the Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Davenport, a son of Virgil W. and Velma V. Perry Sours. He married Patricia A. Lee on Sept. 23, 1950. She died June 24, 1982.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Robert.

Surviving are one son, Allen (and Helen) Sours of Browning; one daughter, Brenda (and Larry) Stambaugh of Astoria; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, John Sours of rural Mount Sterling.

He worked for the Illinois Dept. of Conservation for 11 years. He then worked for Sinnock Construction and later owned and operated Sours Construction until retiring.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rushville.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Scott Henley officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brooklyn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
