Mary E. Smith, 74, of Reedsburg, Wis., formerly of rural Lewistown, died Friday, March 20, 1998, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 19, 1923, in rural Farmington, a daughter of Luther and Elizabeth Welker Wasson. She married Olis K. “O.K.” Smith on Feb. 20, 1957. He died July 1, 1981. One infant sister and one brother also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Connie Herman of Marquette Heights and Bonnie Conn of Reedsburg; three sons, Leslie Althiser of Ipava, Howard Althiser of Reedsburg and Randy Smith of Lime Ridge, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She farmed in rural Lewistown and Wisconsin all her adult life. She also worked at Grede Foundries in Wisconsin before retiring.
Services were held Tuesday at Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Burial was in Lime Ridge Cemetery in Lime Ridge.
