Charles Sill

Charles Sill, 81, of rural Browning, died suddenly at his home about 9 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 1978, while mowing his yard.

Mr. Sill was born Aug. 17, 1896, in Peoria County, the son of Robert F. and Clara Johnson Sill. He was married Jan. 1, 1918, to Maye Scott. She preceded him in death June 25, 1950. On Aug. 7, 1952, he married Zella Schoaff, she survives.

Other survivors include Bruce E. of South Bend, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Betty) Deppermann of Astoria; one step-daughter, Mrs. Charles (Elva) Harper of Taejon, Korea; two step-sons, Marvin Schoaff of Reynolds Station, Ky., and Paul Schoaff of Amherst, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Lily Mace of Fort Smith, Ark.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

He was an elder in the Bader Christian Church and was a retired coal miner and farmer.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Astoria Christian Church with Rev. James Shirley officiating. Burial was in the Bader Cemetery.
