Gloria RoeggeGloria Jean Roegge, 80, of Rushville, formerly of Beardstown, died at 7:17 p.m. Sept. 26, 2014, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born July 8, 1934, in Springfield. She married Carl H. Roegge on March 8, 1953, in Beardstown. He preceded her in death Oct. 24, 1994.

She also was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Suthred Meyer; one grandchild, Zachary Moranville; four brothers, Jack, Ronnie, Dale and Bob Meyer; and two sisters, Royna Stambaugh and Marilyn Brown.

Surviving are six children: Deborah Ann (and William) Worthington, Theresa Dianne Roegge and Nancy Kay (and Terry) Dodds, all of Rushville, Kathleen Gail Roegge (and partner Robert Berry) of Glenview and Carl Douglas (and Gina) Roegge and David Scott Roegge, both of Beardstown; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Her first and favorite job was at Beardstown Princess Theater when she was age 13. She then worked at Meyer’s Shoe Store before becoming an LPN. She was a nurse at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb and Beardstown Long Term Care. She was later an activity director at Beardstown Long Term Care and at Culbertson Long Term Care before retiring.

After retirement, she was a receptionist at Worthington Funeral Home.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Beardstown, Beardstown Book Club, Beardstown Lion’s Club and Quilt Guild. She volunteered at Lincoln Courthouse Museum and Meals on Wheels.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Joe Eckman officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Arenzville.
