Arthur RingArthur Ring, 90, of Rushville died at 8:30 p.m. June 8, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born June 17, 1918, in Cass County, a son of William Frederick and Elsie Meyer Ring. He married Alberta Marie Sweatman on July 20, 1941, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2007.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, George and Wilbur Ring; and one sister, Mary Ring.

Surviving are four sons, Charles (and Barbara) Ring of Virginia, Merle Ring, Dale (and Vickie) Ring and Wayne (and Marilyn) Ring, all of Rushville; two sisters, Louise (and James) Wildt of Erie and Leta Ann (and James) Webster of Virginia; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

He began his career as a farmer in Cass County and in 1957 he purchased Cass Implement in Beardstown. In 1971, he began Arthur Ring and Son in Rushville and expanded to Lewistown in 1983.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs where he served on the church council and building committee; and a member of Beardstown Elks.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at his church with Rev. Jill Flynn officiating. Burial will follow in Beardstown City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.
