Fern RobesonFern Dora Robeson, 86, of Rushville died at 9:35 p.m. June 15, 2008, at Snyder’s Vaughn Haven Nursing Home.

She was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Huntsville, a daughter of Ray and Pearl L. Bates Pierce. She married Glen Robeson on April 5, 1941, in Augusta. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1974.

She also was preceded in death by one son, William “Billy” Robeson; one daughter, Donna Rae Robeson; one brother, Watson Pierce; and one sister, Isabelle Hardy.

Surviving are one son, Ronnie Robeson of Rushville; and one sister, Evelyn Franklin of Phoenix, Ariz.

She was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Mary Ruth Circle and past president of United Methodist Women.

She was a member of Schuyler Chapter #694 Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron, two terms; and Schuyler Women’s Club.

She was the bookkeeper for the Grand Masonic Lodge of Illinois, retiring in October 1989.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at her church with Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville.

Memorials may be made to her church or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
