Robert Michael Riley, 74, of Knoxville, died at 6:13 p.m. Friday, May 22, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born March 24, 1924, in Center Point Township, rural Wataga, a son of Oscar Newton and Nora Grissom Riley. He married Anna Ruth Jones on March 6, 1971, in London Mills. She survives.

Also surviving are four stepsons, Fred Jones of St. David, Art Jones of Lewistown, Russell Jones of Nicholasville, Ky., and Louis Jones of Vermont; two stepdaughters, Sheralyn Larson of Wataga and Bonnie Jaeckel of Clarinda, Iowa; one sister, Blanche Stegal of Galesburg; one brother, Patrick of London Mills; 12 stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He was a Korean War Army veteran with rank of corporal, serving as a clerk typist. He farmed with his father in rural London Mills. He also was a painter and insulator at Admiral Corp. in Galesburg, retiring in 1980.

He was a member of United Methodist Church of London Mills where services were held this morning with Rev. Richard Kerr officiating. Burial was in Haynes Cemetery in DeLong, where military rites will be conducted by Galesburg American Legion Post 285.
