She was born March 23, 1932, in Brazil, Ind., a daughter of Charley Douglas and Ethel Marie Knott McDonald. She married Mark Wayne Parkins on Sept. 10, 1950. He survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Darla Scherb, Julia (and Jim) Miller and Ruth (and Kevin) Ebersohl; two sons, Jerry (and Carol) Parkins and Mark (and Charlene) Parkins; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy “Ducky” McDonald, Charles “Chuck” McDonald and Jack A. McDonald; and two sisters, Dorothy Dressler and Mary Ann Matherly.
She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1950. She was a member of Grace Chapel.
She was a 72-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Brazil Chapter #80, a life member of the VFW Post 1127 Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 2 Auxiliary.
A funeral service was held Monday at French Funeral Home in Brazil, Ind., with Pastor Tim Russell officiating. Burial was held at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
