Gordon B. Popplewell, 68, of Astoria died at 1:05 a.m. May 29, 2009, at Astoria Gardens.
He was born April 9, 1941, in Jabez, Ky., a son of Losier and Opal Popplewell.
Surviving are one son, Rusty (and Robin) Popplewell of Astoria; one daughter, Marsha Haberfield of Roodhouse; one sister, Mary Ann of suburban Chicago; two brothers, Doyle Popplewell of Michigan and Junior Popplewell of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
He was a painter in the Chicago area.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be in Kentucky.
Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
