Corlieu PedersenCorlieu “Corky” Pedersen, 78, of Cuba died at 5:15 a.m. March 20, 2008, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.

She was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Cuba, the daughter of C. Hobart and Charlesa O’Bryant Engle. She married Arnold R. Pedersen Jr. on June 5, 1948, in Chicago. He died Feb. 20, 2005.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Candy Pedersen.

Surviving are two daughters, Charlesa (and Dale) Young of Cuba and Darlene (and Scott) Kilbourne of Lewisville, N.C.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She worked for Dr. J.K. Welch in Cuba for 10 years, a lab technician at Graham Hospital in 1966, then worked in the lab at Coleman Clinic from 1967 to 1986, last working as a lab supervisor.

She was a member of Cuba Christian Church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 226 for 50 plus years, Cuba American Legion Auxiliary for 58 years, Bethel 14 Jobs Daughters International and Red Hat Society. She also served as a Democratic chairwoman for Fulton County.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Amy Wharton officiating. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the memorial home.

Memorials may be made to her church or Clayberg Nursing Home.
