James OzleyJames Henry Ozley, 74, of Rushville, formerly of Rockford and Cherokee Village, Ark., died at 12:15 a.m. Jan. 18, 2010, in Snyder’s Vaughn Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

He was born July 4, 1935, in Alabaster, Ala., a son of William Bruce Ozley and Lola May Davis. He first married Mary McCloud. Later, he married Delores K. Brown. On July 9, 1977, in Rockford, he married Helen Elzine Richey who preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 2009.

He also was preceded in death by one son, James Steven Ozley; and one brother, Earl Ozley.

Surviving are four daughters, Debbie Wescott, Lynn Ozley and Tina Mathiesen, all of Rockford, and Michele (and Phil) Fitzjarrald of Rushville; two stepsons, Rick (and Fiona) Gulbrantson of Hot Springs, Ark., and Rod Gulbrantson (and companion Jeanette Midkirk) of Rockford; two sisters, Shirley (and Dick) Compton of Los Angeles, Calif., and Eloise (and Alton) Flute of Rockford; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was a member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters, working for Central Steel and Wire of Chicago, until retiring in 1994.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at House Gregg Funeral Home in Lynn, Ark., with Jerry Wayne officiating. Burial will follow in Old Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.
