He was born April 4, 1940, in Galesburg, a son of Albert Wallace and Marjorie Virginia Driffil Nelson. He married Mary Lee Kaletsch on Sept. 3, 1957, in Burlington, Iowa. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Pamela A. (and Ed) Maybee of Davie, Fla.; three sons, R. Michael (and Tammy) Nelson of Buckeye, Ariz., Patrick D. (and Rebecca) Nelson of Sciota and Mark A. Nelson of Ipava; one brother, Roger (and Peggy) Nelson of Canton; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Marquith.
He was an over-the-road truck driver for over 35 years.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Doug Krukewitt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the memorial home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
