Cremation was accorded for Joyce B. Miller, 64, of Astoria, who was pronounced dead Tuesday, June 25, 2002, near Kansas City, Mo.

There will be no services or visitation. George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home in Independence, Mo., was in charge of arrangements.

She died in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 in rural Jackson County, Mo.

She was born Aug. 30, 1937, in London Mills, a daughter of William and Grace Marie Davis Nesbitt. She married James "Jim" Miller. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, James Jr. (and Lori) of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Janice (and Charles) Slaughter of Humble, Texas, and Joyce (and Jerry) Bennett of Austin, Texas; one brother, Jerry (and Lisa) Nesbitt of Canton; one sister, Judy (and Jack) Moraski of Carter Lake, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

She had worked at Breckenridge Hospital in Austin for 20 years, retiring in 2000.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. graveside at Woodland Cemetery in Astoria with Pastor Greg Beach officiating. (Cremation rites were accorded at an earlier date.) Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
