Clark MorelandClark Moreland, 87, of Rushville died at 6:34 p.m. Dec. 9, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born June 20, 1922, the son of Clarence C. and Alice Myrtle Hampton Moreland. He married Marjorie Stewart on March 25, 1950, in Chicago. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Garry (and Mary) Moreland of Rushville; three daughters, Susan (and Don) Wilkins of Evanston, Marsha (and Ron) Bartlett of Rushville and Jane (and Shawn) Foreman of Elmhurst; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Parshall and Lucille Bruce.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945.

He was a member of Rushville First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, taught Sunday school and participated in the Explorer’s Bible study.

He was a member of Rushville Rotary Club, charter member of Rushville Little League, Rushville Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M., Schuyler District #1 School Board, Spoon River College Board and Culbertson Memorial Hospital Board.

He was a former member of Illinois State Board of Pharmacy, former director of Pharmacist’s Mutual Insurance Co. and a charter member of Rushville Flying Club.

Since 1953, he owned and operated Moreland & Devitt Drug Store, continuing to dispense prescriptions until Dec. 8, 2009. He was named the Illinois Pharmacist of the Year in 1977 and was named honorary president of IPHA in 1998.

Services were held Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Rushville with Rev. Steven Akins officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
