Douglas James McNew, 35, of Mount Carmel, formerly of Carmi, died July 10, 2008, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was born Jan. 30, 1973, in Olney, the son of James H. and Patricia D. Kesterson McNew. He married Rachel Anne McCormick on June 17, 2000. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Gage Douglas McNew; his parents, Jim and Pat McNew of Carmi; paternal grandfather and wife, James F. and Myrtle McNew of Sumner; and three sisters, Cindy McNew of Carmi; Shellie McNew of Evansville, Ind., and Sondra (and Jeff) Smith of Norris City.
He was a team leader at Toyota Gibson County Plant.
He was a member of the Wabash County Quail Club.
Memorials may be made in Douglas James McNew’s name to The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at SIU in Carbondale.
Rachel is the daughter of Scott McCormick, granddaughter of Virginia McCormick.
