John LewisJohn T. Lewis, 69, of Rushville died at 7:55 a.m. Jan. 19, 2010, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Macomb, a son of Thomas D. and Maude Lantz Lewis. He married Colleen Ogg in 1962, but they were later divorced. He married Evelyn Jo Vincent Yost at Bluff Springs St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Dec. 30, 1978. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa (and David) Thoma of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Christine Lewis (and Rod Bruns) of Carthage; two stepdaughters, Monica (and Steve) Behnen of Jacksonville and Alisa (and Kevin) Jones of Beardstown; two stepsons, Mark (and Susan) Yost of Bellville and Gregory (and Vickie) Yost of Festus, Mo.; one sister, Marion Lukasik of Louisville, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Michelle Yost; and one brother, Scott Lewis.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a sonar man on the submarine U.S.S. Quillback. After his naval service, he farmed with his father, was a Riverboat Pilot working for the Ohio River Co. and was a substance abuse counselor for JACOA in Jacksonville and for Cass County Mental Health in Beardstown.

He owned and operated Computer EZ in Rushville until retiring in November 2007.

Services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in Brooklyn Cemetery.
