Harold LasswellHarold Eldon Lasswell, 84, of Cuba died at 2:05 a.m. Oct. 5, 2007, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.

He was born March 26, 1923, in rural Fiatt, the son of Charles Edwin and Opal Shriver Lasswell. He married Donna J. Melvin on Sept. 27, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronald (and Brenda) Lasswell and Roger (and Sue) Lasswell, both of Cuba; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He was a coal miner for 40 years, working at United Electric #9 Mine in Cuba, and retiring from Amex Delta Mine in Marion.

He was a former Cuba City Alderman, member of Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533 and UMWA Local 7031.

Services were held Monday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Brian Eatock officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery.
