Howard LundHoward D. Lund, 86, of Lewistown died at 6:40 a.m. Oct. 11, 2006, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Osage, Iowa, a son of Hans C. and Clara Fods Lund. He married Rosalee Laird on Oct. 14, 1946, in Two Harbors, Minn. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Bruce (and Roberta) of Arlington, Texas, and Mark (and Pat) of Astoria; one daughter, Ruby Smith of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Joyce McLaughlin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He was a World War II Army veteran. He also was a life member of Canton VFW Post 1984 and Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1.

He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, past master of Lewistown Lodge 104 AF & AM, Noble Grand of Lewistown Odd Fellows Lodge, lifetime member of Peoria Scottish Rite, a member of Peoria Consistory, Fulton County Scottish Rite, Lewistown Rebekah Lodge #566, Peoria Mohammed Temple Shrine, and past patron of Lewistown Eastern Star Lodge.

He retired in 1983 from the Fulton County Highway Department.

Services were held Saturday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. John Seed officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton with military rites accorded by his VFW and American Legion posts.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or his church.
