Mildred LindbergMildred Marian Kost Lindberg, 83, of Macomb died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at Wesley Village in Macomb.

She was born June 29, 1922, in Trenton, N.J., the daughter of Jacob and Jennie Labovitz Hirsch. She married Russell Kost in 1945. She later married Eric Lindberg on March 8, 1994, in Lakeland, Fla. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Bruce (and Mary) Kost of Mapleton; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five stepchildren and several step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Irving and Carl Hirsch; and two half brothers, Meyer and Charles Hirsch.

She graduated from Central High School in Trenton in 1939 and from Rider College in Trenton in 1943. She taught kindergarten and then high school business at VIT High School in Table Grove for 27 years, retiring in 1980. Prior to that, she taught in the Lewistown and Manito school districts and in the Allentown, N.J. school district.

She was a member of American Legion Post #26, The Tin Lizzies singing group, Fulton County Arts Council, AARP, Teacher's Retirement Association, Rushville Golf League and the BPO Deer. She was a lifetime member of McDonough District Hospital Volunteers.

Services were held Friday at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb. Cremation has been accorded.

Memorials may be made in her name to OSF St. Francis Children's Hospital or to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
