Aged Astoria Woman Dies

Mrs. Lizzie Lehman Passed Away At Home Of Mrs. Laura Mummert

Mrs. Lizzie Lehman, a well known and highly respected lady, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Laura Mummert. Death was due to pneumonia.

Malissa Lizzie Mummert was the daughter of Jonas and Betsy Mummert. She was born June 17, 1857 in York County, Pa., and came to Illinois with her parents in 1866 and located in Woodland township, and has since made her home in this vicinity. She was aged 78 years, 7 months and 15 days.

She was united in marriage to Mike Lehman in the year 1874. To this union the following children were born, who survive to mourn her departure: Emanuel Lehman of Moline, Harvey Lehman, Milan, Ill., Mrs. Carrie Clanin, Decatur, and Henry Lehman, Astoria. Her husband died Aug. 21, 1926.

Mrs. Lehman is also survived by one brother, George Mummert, of Astoria, and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Eshelman of Canton.

Mrs. Lehman was possessed of a kind, loving disposition. She had many friends in Astoria who greatly admired her for her fine human traits. She was a woman who exemplified a true, earnest Christian character. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Church of the Brethren in Astoria, conducted by Rev. E. F. Caslow of Virden, assisted by Rev. T. P. Krumpe. Interment in Woodland cemetery.
