William Kost

William Robert Kost, 83, of Canton died at 11:45 p.m. Dec. 22, 2006, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born May 2, 1923, in Macomb, a son of William Rush and Anita Louise Schenk Kost. He married Betty J. Flynn on April 6, 1947, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jodie (and Robbin) of Astoria; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.

He retired in 1981 after 27 years with Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at Astoria Cemetery with Gary Sheets officiating. Military rites were conducted by Astoria American Legion Post 25. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
