Charles Johnson

IPAVA — Died, May 19th, two miles East of Ipava, of ulcer of the stomach, Chas. E. Johnson, age sixty-three. Deceased was born in the state of New York, July 13th, 1830 and came to this country in 1848; was united in marriage with Miss Harriet Lacy in 1853. In this union four children were born to them, all of whom remain to mourn a father's loss. The funeral was the largest of any in this part of the country for some time. There were 250 teams hitched in the vicinity of the church and residence. Nearly 100 Masons were in line and paid the last sad tribute with Masonic honors. Rev. Anthong conducted the funeral services, assisted by the Masons. Bro. Johnson was a kind husband and father, a true friend and faithful to his trust. The family have the sympathy of many friends on their sad bereavement.
