Darwin IrwinDarwin “Butch” Lee Irwin, 63, of Littleton died at 7:25 a.m. May 19, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born March 27, 1945, in Schuyler County, a son of Byron “Pink” and Leila Schoonover Irwin. He married Margie E. Holder on Jan. 25, 1964, in Schuyler County. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Ronda (and Bill) Fitzjarrald of Bowen; three sons, Darwin D. (and Kelly) Irwin of Marthasville, Mo., Lynn A. (and Melissa) Irwin of Table Grove and Doyle L. (and Julie) Irwin of Crossville; one sister, Donna (and Carl) Lerch of Cuba; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Doyle Irwin and Byron Irwin Jr.; and one sister, Verlena Irwin.

He worked for Caterpillar in Peoria. He later worked for Peabody and Amax Coal companies as a mechanic, welder and heavy equipment operator. From 1993 to 2000, he owned and operated Irwin Field Tiling.

He was a member and board member of Augusta Christian Church and attended Littleton United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Matt Haberman officiating. Burial will follow in Littleton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to LaMoine Christian Church Camp or HELP Center in Rushville.
