Barbara Kathryn Hayes, 88, of Vermont died at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at her home.
She was born March 28, 1917, in Vermont, a daughter of Glenn and Bijou Ralston Hayes. She married H. Eugene Hayes on Oct. 29, 1939, in St. Charles, Mo. He died May 31, 1996.
She also was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret "Peggy" Kost.
Surviving are one daughter, Jan A. Hayes of Macomb; one son, Tom (and Sue) of Ipava; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
She was a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Macomb and then McDonough District Hospital in Macomb for over 50 years, retiring in 1989 as an administrative house director.
She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Macomb in 1939.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Vermont Cemetery with Rev. Tim Gilliland officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
