VeteranLeland Hand

Services for Leland E. Hand, 34, of Peoria Heights, who was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 1997, will be held at 8 p.m. this evening at Wilton Mortuary in Peoria.

He died at the scene after he lost control of his motorcycle on Lorentz Avenue in Peoria.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the mortuary and burial will be in Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.

He was born June 7, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Leland F. and Linda L. Fishel Hand.

Surviving are a friend, Susan M. Schultz of Peoria Heights, with whom he shared his home; his mother, Linda L. Rockett of Peoria; his father of Santa Fe, Texas; two sons, Shawn P. Murphy of Peoria and Curtis A. “Tony” Hand of Galveston, Texas; one brother, Brian K. Hand of Peoria; one stepbrother, Brian G. Hand of Santa Fe; one sister, Mrs. Larry (April L.) Smith of Santa Fe; one half sister, Dorinda Hand of Pasadena, Texas; and one stepsister, Kathy Hand of Hitchcock.

He was a welder at Komatsu Dresser Haulpak Division in Peoria for 1 1/2 years, where he last worked Friday. He was an Army veteran.
