Ernest Hamm, Former Astorian, Dies in Iowa

Ernest C. Hamm, 60, postal clerk, died Wednesday at his home in Marion, Iowa, following a lingering illness.

He was born Nov. 10, 1895, a son of Jacob and Catherine Stauffer Hamm of Bader. He was married to Belle DeVore at Rushville.

Mr. and Mrs. Hamm, former Astoria residents, moved to Marion, Iowa, from Blue Island, Ill., 24 years ago, as a postal clerk.

He was a member of the Marion Christian church, Postal Transport Association and the Kiwanis club.

Mr. Hamm is survived by his wife, three daughters, Beulah at home, Mrs. Paul Wulfsberg, and Helen Hamm of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ida McCurdy of Toledo, Ohio, and one brother, Noah S. Hamm of Astoria.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Murdoch Chapel conducted by Rev. Roy Field. Burial in Cedar Memorial cemetery.
