THOMAS J. HORTON

Aged Astoria Resident Dies

Thomas J. Horton, a life long, well known resident of Astoria and community, died Monday at 11:30 forenoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marie Clark. he was aged 88 years, 7 months and 11 days.

Mr. Horton has been in failing health for several years and bedfast the past year.

Mr. Horton was born in Woodland township on March 30, 1858, the son of Andrew Jackson and Polly Horn Horton. He was united in marriage to Laura Haare, who preceded him in death several years ago.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marie Clark, Astoria, Mrs. Ada Cluff of Provo, Utah, and one son Guy Horton of Los Angeles, Calif.; also one sister, Mrs. Robert Justus of near Vermont.

Mr. Horton followed the occupation of farming and operated a threshing machine for many years.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Cline Horton residence, conducted by Rev. H. Sheldon Pattison. Burial was in the Astoria Memorial Mausoleum.
