Meta Goodin

Meta G. Goodin, 89, of Macomb died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Macomb.

She was born May 10, 1912, near Canton, a daughter of Robert and Mary Ida McKoon Goodin.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Carol Goodin of Plymouth, Larry Goodin of Vermont and Cindy Ellis of Colchester.

Two sisters and six brothers preceded her in death.

She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and a master's degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Colo. She was certified as a school librarian at the University of Denver Library School and did graduate work in psychology at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.

During her 50 years as an educator, she taught in Illinois and Denver, Colo. In Denver, she served in a study of creativity in gifted children and in Denver's special school for integrating the blind and hard-of-hearing into the regular classroom. She was a high school English teacher, a school librarian and a supervisor of student teachers at the University of Colorado.

She was a member of McDonough District Hospital Auxiliary in Macomb.

Services were held Friday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Chaplain Ron Green officiating. Burial was in Shields Chapel Cemetery near Canton.
