E. Vergene Corbitt, 81, of Macomb died at 11:35 p.m. April 14, 2009, in Macomb.
She was born Sept. 13, 1927, in rural Industry, a daughter of Chester and Nellie Kemper Penington. She married Philip E. Corbitt on Oct. 22, 1950. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1984.
She also was preceded in death by one son, David P. Corbitt; one brother, Richard Penington; and one sister, Corrine Eden.
Surviving are one daughter, Jobie (and Jerry) Wilson of Havana; one grandchild; and two step-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Gem City Business College in Quincy.
She worked at VIT community schools, Ken-Ray Brass Foundry and in the personnel office at NTN Bower for several years.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Vermont Christian Church and St. Paul Catholic Church in Macomb.
Services were held Saturday at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb with Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
