EMMA (KIRKBRIDE) CUMMINGS

Emma Cummings

Mrs. Emma Kirkbride Cummings died at her home west of Astoria, October 1st, 1893, of typhoid fever. The deceased was one of the eight daughters of the late David Kirkbride, of Vermont. She was aged thirty-five years, one month and one day at the time of her death. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church when but seventeen years old and died as she had lived, in the faith of the gospel, and has gone to the rest that remains for the people of God. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her departure, together with her mother and all the sisters. The funeral services were conducted from the house by Elder Hughes and followed to the last resting place by a large circle of relatives and friends. Let us be comforted in the belief that, “Somewhere I know on that unseen shore she watches and beckons and waits for me.”
