Bernard Brillhart

Bernard W. Brillhart, 82, of Champaign, formerly of Bushnell, died at 7:45 a.m. Sept. 10, 2011, at Carle Hospital in Urbana.

He was born Aug. 22, 1929, in Hermon, a son of Chester and Lizzie E. Horner Brillhart. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Smith on Jan. 16, 1986, in Champaign. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Lynn (and Bill Carroll) DeAndrea of Denver, Colo.; three sons, Stan (and Sue) Brillhart of Andalusia, Steve (and Mary Ann) Brillhart of Kennett Square, Pa., and David Brillhart of Denver, Colo.; two stepsons, Jeffrey Higgins of Delray Beach, Fla., and Kevin (and Melanie) Higgins of Fuqua-Varina, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Kimberley (and Randy) Smith of Villa Grove; one sister, Lola Fusco of Drexel Hill, Pa.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

He was a 1967 graduate of Western Illinois University.

He was manager of grain elevators in Ipava, Table Grove, Bushnell and Knoxville.

He was a 50-year member of TJ Pickett Lodge #307 of Bushnell, where he wrote their history. He was a 32nd degree Mason in Quincy Consistory.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the memorial home. Masonic services will be held immediately following the visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
